Landbased & Leisure
Course List
Department Overview
FACILITIES
The department operates over two sites, at Newtown St Boswells and Galashiels, both providing excellent classroom and workshop facilities. The many modern farms, estates and horticultural units provide first class practical facilities for its courses, while local equestrian centres provide the base for the Horse Management courses and Riddell Estate the base for the Gamekeeping courses.
EQUIPMENT & RESOURCES
The department has a wide range of equipment, from basic hand tools to the larger equipment found on farms, estates, horticultural units, riding centres and agricultural workshops, weight rooms and sports facilities.
INDUSTRIAL LINKS & WORK PLACEMENT
The department offers Work Placement as an integral part of many landbased and leisure courses. Students gain a wide range of realistic, practical work experience by working on farms and estates, in horticultural units, agricultural engineering workshops, pet shops, rescue centres, vets, kennels, catteries, riding establishments, sports facilities and leisure centres.
