Department Overview
Beauty & Hairdressing
At our new Scottish Borders Campus you will have the opportunity to learn in state of the art salons which have been furnished with the latest equipment and materials.
Our Hairdressing and Beauty Programmes have strong industrial links through visits and industrial liaison, which enables us to place students in a wide range of establishments throughout the Borders. An essential part of most of the qualifications is the work placement. Most students work in an industrial placement one day per week through the College year, where they gain valuable experience.
Catering & Hospitality
The Catering programmes ensure that periods of industrial experience are on offer to students, allowing students to have the opportunity to sample new skills whilst perfecting existing ones. Many of the establishments involved are staffed by former students. In addition, the students have the opportunity to be involved in a range of outside catering events and functions.
Our restaurant is designed to allow customers to enjoy their meal in a relaxing, well designed atmosphere. Food prepared in our high-tech kitchen will compliment this facility.
Art & Graphic Design
The Art & Graphic studios will allow candidates to develop their skills and abilities in informal art studios with access to relevant software.
The Art and Graphic Design Programmes enjoy close links with local artists. The team hold an annual exhibition, with awards being judged externally. Students have experienced trips to galleries and museums, such as the Tate Gallery in London.
