Today's world revolves around the use of digital technologies and requires people with a mix of computing, technical, creative, and people skills. This course covers a wide range of topics, including hardware and systems, data security, applications development and coding with HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Python. In this course, you will undertake a wide range of different computing units to develop a skill base to provide opportunities to progress to higher levels of study or into employment.

Qualifications

Upon successful completion, candidates will achieve the following awards;

  • NC Computing at SCQF Level 6 including;
  • NPA Software Development SCQF Level 6
  • NPA in Cyber Security at SCQF Level 6
Some of the units included cover topics such as Ethical Hacking, Authorising a Website and Computer Hardware and Systems

Delivery

The course is full-time, delivered on campus over three days, for 36 weeks. There will be some hybrid learning opportunities and this will be flexible throughout the delivery.

Entry requirements

Applications should have 3 relevant National 5 qualifications or equivalent, or be progressing from a similar college course at SCQF Level 5.Applicants with no formal qualifications will be considered on an individual basis and their applications or enquiries are encouraged.Previous experience with Programming, Computer Systems, and/or Networking is not essential but would be advantageous.

Applications will be reviewed by the curriculum team and candidates will be invited to interview to follow up on the information contained within to confirm suitability. A full, detailed personal statement is important at this stage. Candidates are provided with the opportunity to ask further questions about the course and college support services at the interviews.
