Currently in Scotland there is a shortage of skilled software developers. This course offers further practical application and development in software development. It will introduce you to a range of subjects and skills that will lead you to the design and development of good quality softwareYou will learn programming languages that will prepare you for a career in this ever-changing industry, as you focus on design, implementation and testing of your programs.This course is equivalent to the second year of degree study and we offer this course as a standalone HND. By studying this programme, you will develop suitable competencies and industry knowledge to enhance a career in computing.

Qualifications

Upon successful completion, candidates will achieve the following awards;

  • HND Computing: Software Development at SCQF Level 8
Some of the units included cover topics such as Self-Describing Data (XML), Object Oriented Programming and Relational Database Management Systems.

Delivery

The course is full-time with delivery on campus over three days, for 36 weeks (Year 2). There will be some hybrid learning opportunities and this will be flexible throughout the delivery.

Entry requirements

Applicants should have successfully completed all the units in HND Computing: Software Development Year 1 to continue onto Year 2 at Borders College.
