Foundation Art and Design (NC - SCQF Level 6)

This Level 6 Qualification is designed to provide learners with the opportunity to develop creative expression by learning an applied range of complementary Art and Design skills and processes. Students will study a wide range of units including Digital Media, Life Drawing, Printmaking and Typography.
This course is suitable for school leavers and mature adult returners who are re-entering education and who have some knowledge, understanding or skills relating to Art and Design.
Qualifications
Upon successful completion, candidates will achieve the following awards;
- NC Art & Design at SCQF Level 6
Delivery
The course is full-time with delivery on campus over three days, for 36 weeks.

Entry requirements
Entry is at the discretion of the centre, candidates would normally be expected to have some knowledge, understanding or skills relating to Art & Design.Accredited qualifications will be considered upon application.

On successful completion of the course, students may progress to some of the pathways outlined below.
- HNC Art and Design SCQF Level 7 at Borders College
- Art Gallery Assistant
- Design Assistant
Application and Interview Process
Applications will be reviewed by the curriculum team and candidates will be invited to interview to follow up on the information contained within to confirm suitability. A full, detailed personal statement is important at this stage. Candidates are provided with the opportunity to ask further questions about the course and college support services at the interviews.
