Mountain Biking

Course Introduction

This programme allows students to gain a suite of qualifications at SCQF Level 6 whilst developing their mountain biking skills, including NPA Achieving Excellence in Sport and SQA units in Performance Analysis, Circuit Training, and Planning Personal Fitness. Core Skills for working in the sport industry are an essential, timetabled part of this course. Part of the course delivery will provide students with the opportunity to be coached by staff from the Dirt School at the world class mountain biking facility at Glentress, Peebles.

Full-time further education programme 3 days per week in College 2 days riding at Glentress/Innerleithen

Entry Requirements

This programme is designed to develop the competitive abilities of an athlete and it is expected that applicants will already be competing and performing under race conditions.

National 5 award in English or equivalent and/or National 5 award in Physical Education.

Applicants without academic qualifications may be considered based on a skills test.

Selection will be subject to satisfactory interview session.
