Anniversary Conference for Gamekeepers

Gamekeeping students from Borders College recently attended the Gamekeeping for Life Conference, hosted by His Grace, The Duke of Roxburghe at Floors Castle in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Gamekeepers Welfare Trust (GWT).

The group was invited to the one day conference to help raise awareness within the industry of the various courses and training routes available to anyone wishing to consider Gamekeeping as a career. Organised by Helen Benson (Chief Operating Officer for GWT), the event proved to be an excellent networking opportunity, well attended by Gamekeepers from across the South of Scotland as well as estate owners and agents.

Lecturer Alan Tweedie accompanied the students to the event where, amongst other activities, they tried their hand at tomahawk throwing, with Euan McKerrow winning this competition. Also on the conference agenda were various talks, videos and demonstrations.
