Students will gain the knowledge and skills to develop their art work further, covering topics such as: Printmaking, Life Drawing, Fine Art and Painting Skills with our lecturing staff, practising artists and designers themselves. As well as access to up-to-date software in our studios, students will have the opportunity to showcase their year’s best work at our Annual Exhibition.
This is an intermediate course for those considering a career in Administration. Units covered include: Word Processing, Handling Business Documents, Front of Office, Researching and Preparing Presentations, and Event Organisation. Students also have the opportunity to undertake a work placement, allowing them to gain valuable employability skills.
This course is designed for those considering a career in Business or Administration. Students will study towards a National Progression Award (NPA) in Business & Information Technology, covering units such as: Marketing and Operations, Management of People and Finance, Understanding Business, and Marketing and Economics. Upon successful completion it may be possible to then progress to an HNC programme.
Students will have the opportunity to learn in our state-of-the-art food production kitchen and our College Restaurant, where customers are served dishes prepared by the students. Classes are rotated between kitchen and restaurant to allow students to gain skills and knowledge of both areas to enhance employment opportunities.
For the performance student, this course is linked to our Rugby, Football and Mountain Biking programmes to allow candidates to develop their individual performance skills. For candidates with a Sport and Exercise background the course allows them to gain academic qualifications along with Coaching awards. Units covered include: Anatomy & Physiology, Fitness Testing, Coaching Children, Strength and Conditioning and Sport related research projects. This award may allow candidates to progress to employment or University.
This course is for those considering a career in Digital Media Computing, covering a wide range of topics including: Internet and On-line Communications, Computing and Hardware Systems, Software Development, Digital Media Elements for Applications, Web Design and Development. Students have the opportunity to undertake client-led project work with local employers, with coursework taking the form of essays, reports, presentations, case studies and practical projects.
This course enables students to gain skills to become successful graphic designers. Areas of study include: visual communications, typography, digital imaging and web design. Assessment is through a wide range of design briefs which are often client-initiated that will develop students’ skills. The course is suitable for those who wish to progress to University to study design.
This award introduces the student to the hairdressing industry. Student will have the opportunity to work in a realistic salon environment with clients and senior stylists, and will undertake theory sessions which support the practical salon classes.
This course will give students an introduction to electrics, hydraulics, various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, MMA) and working with sheet metal to construct various artefacts using cutting and bending equipment, as well as including contextualised core skills and sustainability. There will also be the opportunity to operate land-based machinery, such as tractors and ATVs. An important part of this course is work placement in the land-based sector.
This course provides students with an introduction to landscape topics whilst gaining valuable work experience within the vocational area. Units include: Maintain Safe and Effective Working Practices, Assist with Planting and Establishing Plants, Assist with Maintaining Plants, Assist with Maintaining Structures and Surfaces, Assist with the Maintenance of Equipment, and Transport Supplies of Physical Resources within the Work Area.
This course is designed to give people with any sporting ability an introduction to the sport and exercise industry. Students will work towards an NPA award at SCQF Level 6 along with a Gym Instructor qualification. There is also the opportunity to develop skills within fitness centres and to achieve additional awards.
