Give Blood at Scottish Borders Campus this month

Helen Huddleston, a Business Lecturer at Borders College, has organised a blood drive to take place at the Scottish Borders Campus in October.

The blood drive at the Galashiels campus first began when Helen’s NC Business class arranged it as a citizenship project. Due to the success of the first blood drive, it has subsequently evolved into a regular event supported by both College and University staff and students.

Helen says, “This will be roughly the seventh time the blood drive has been held at the campus. I would encourage anyone aged 17 years and above who wants to give blood to first check that they are eligible to donate blood by completing a quick online quiz (www.scotblood.co.uk/giving-blood/can-i-give-blood/). You are then required to book a donation time slot by e-mailing me. The NHS team will be on-hand to screen attendees and answer any questions on the day. ”

If you want to play your part in potentially helping save a life (one pint of blood could save up to three people’s lives), please make time to come to the mobile donation unit at the Scottish Borders Campus, Nether Road, Galashiels on Thursday 17 October 2017, either in the morning (10am-12pm) or the afternoon (1.30-3.30pm) – Helen and the Scotblood team would be delighted to see you.

To book your donation time slot, e-mail Helen Huddleston on hhudd@borderscollege.ac.uk
