‘Great British Barber Bash’ welcomed to College Salon
Borders College recently hosted a special interactive workshop run by top educators, ‘Great British Barber Bash’ who are at the forefront of modern barbering.
Barbering is a skill that is rising in demand, with barber shops recently becoming more prominent. Programme Leader for Hairdressing, Paula Hutchison, said of the event:
“A number of local salon owners who are well-known by the College attended this interesting and informative workshop which is a perfect way for them to enhance their existing skillset to include barbering.”
The 3 hour demonstration provided attendees the chance to see the professionals in action carrying out 4 different haircuts, and some of the group chose to attend the full session where they could get hands-on with the models themselves, as well as benefiting from one to one tuition, putting their burning questions to the professionals, Eric Begg and Greg Forrest (proprietors of Slicks Barbers in Glasgow).
Director of GBBB, Garry Spencer, said:
“Our workshops introduce attendees to various aspects of barbering, such as clipper choice, what’s in fashion and where barbering is at now as an industry, and we like to keep it fun and informal.”
GBBB’s workshops take place in salons across the country, and they also bring their extravagant College showcases to audiences of up to 200 people.
Nicola Burton, owner at Images Hair Salon in Eyemouth, said of her experience on the workshop:
“I loved every minute of the day and learned loads, the guys were amazing.”
