The new apprenticeships for pupils in 5th and 6th year
Borders College is one of many colleges in Scotland to offer and support Foundation Apprenticeships, the exciting new way to get real qualifications that give added value to your time at school.
You’ll complete the Foundation Apprenticeship during 5th and 6th year alongside your other subjects like National 5s and Highers. Over the 2 years you will work towards an industry recognised qualification in college, but what’s more is you will have the opportunity to put your learning into practice in the workplace.
Whether you’re planning to go on to college or university, enrol on a Modern Apprenticeship or go straight into work, a Foundation Apprenticeship can give you a wide range of skills and experience to help your application and personal statement stand out from the crowd.
A Foundation Apprenticeship is set at SCQF level 6 and based on existing industry-recognised qualifications including Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQ) and National Certificates (NC).
Borders College are offering three Foundation Apprenticeships this coming year:
- Business Skills,
- Children & Young People and
- Social Services and Healthcare.
You can find out more about studying for a Foundation Apprenticeship by talking with your School Guidance staff or contacting Borders College. There are full details about the options available as well as contact details at: www.borderscollege.ac.uk/foundation .
