Building for the future

10 students from Construction, Computing and Care departments were selected to attend the FUTUREquipped Student Engagement Day at the Scottish Construction Innovation Centre.

They worked with students from other colleges to examine the impact of our aging population in Scotland, with more elderly people, often with multiple health and care needs, living in less than ideal housing.

An interactive tour of the centre allowed students to see many innovative construction methods, including robotics, 3D printing and sustainable insulation materials.

Construction, Computing and Care students worked together to plan and design ‘Smart’ homes to allow people to remain healthy and live independently.

Presentations were judged by industry experts and winning students were presented with Amazon Echo Dots.
