Essential Skills Employers Forum

Staff from the Business and Employability faculty recently met with a range of local employer representatives to discuss the increasingly important need for ‘Essential Skills’. The college recognises that essential and core skills are critical for success in the workplace and must therefore be core to our provision.

Feedback from local employers is key in shaping our future curriculum and ensuring we are well equipped to prepare learners with the right skills. The event provided a platform to engage in discussion and debate about essential skills and understand what it is that makes us more employable.

Catherine Elliott (Head of Business and Employability) said that "This event provided a valuable opportunity for the College to speak to employers to find out first hand what essential skills they look for in potential employees when they apply for a job and attend an interview".

Feedback from this event will be used to develop all areas of the curriculum, as it was very clear that regardless of the sector, the essential skills remain the same!
