Everything going uphill for mountain biking students
STUDENTS joining the BASE Downhill Mountain biking Course know they have taken the right path to success.
The course is coached by proven winners in Chris Ball, Andy Barlow and
Ruaridh Cunningham and is developing winners with an excellent track record. With a worldwide reputation, and world class facilities the course is attracting students with genuine pedigree and making them winners.
Mike Spence moved to the Borders from the Midlands and since joining the course he has seen his racing statistics change beyond recognition. He said: “I was featuring in the top ten in junior races last year but my mindset has switched completely. I now have the ability to prepare myself instantly and my skill level has improved considerably. I am much fitter and push myself much harder.”
Students train on some of the best tracks in the world within the Glentress Forest complex and this is sharpening their skills on a daily basis.
Chris Gallagher has emerged as one of the hottest prospects in the sport having won ALL his races so far this season. “I am a much more committed person since I joined the course and I have a stronger will to win. I totally believe in myself and to make it even better so do my tutors.” said Chris.
Drew Carters was second in the Scottish Youths Championship and placed fifth in the British Youths Championship. He said: “I wanted top five at the British Championships and I produced it, it gave my self belief a huge boost.”
Training daily alongside the best riders and the best coaches produces genuine competition amongst the students, and drives them to greater success.
