Students head to the city with high hopes
Good luck to our Hairdressing level 1, 2 & 3 and HNC Fashion Make Up students who are taking part in the regional heats of AHT Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy Competition, being held at Edinburgh College Granton Campus on Monday 11th February.
Borders College students Claire Boyle (level 1 Hairdressing), Cheryl Johnstone (level 1 Hairdressing), Rhianne Miller (level 2 Hairdressing), Brittany Barnes (level 2 Hairdressing), Kayleigh Scott (level 3 Hairdressing), Zoey Grahame (level 3 Hairdressing), Patricia Douglas (level 3 Hairdressing), Rachel McDonald (HNC Fashion Make Up), Baillie Steele (HNC Fashion Make Up) and Emma Smith (HNC Fashion Make Up) will be competing against various other colleges in the following categories:
• Level 1 – Ladies Blow Dry
• Level 2/3 – Ladies Evening Style
• Level 2/3 – Commercial Cut & Blow Dry
• HNC Fashion make Up – Period 1940s Make Up
• Gender Transformation – Transgender
The students and staff have been working hard over the last month in preparation for the competition, with Lecturer Wendy McCutcheon saying:
“We decided at the last minute to enter the competition just before the Christmas break. This gave us little time to prepare so the students and staff have been working extra hard in class and also in their own time. Myself and fellow Lecturer Angela Casson entered this competition as students 21 years ago, so to be taking our own students this time around is very exciting. Hopefully we can come back with a result.”
The students hope to do well, with the opportunity of making it to the finals being held in Blackpool in the Spring.
We wish the students the best of luck!
