Waverley Housing and Borders College MA-ke it happen

Waverley Housing and Borders College continue to enjoy a fruitful and collaborative relationship, with another Modern Apprentice (MA) in the 2016/17 academic year recently completing their training through the support of both organisations.

Louise Davies from Hawick is the latest Waverley Housing MA to complete their qualification, this time level 3 Business Administration.  Louise heard about the MA opportunity through Hawick High School’s Facebook page just as she was beginning her 6th year at the school.

She decided to apply for the Apprenticeship, saying, “I found the experience very useful as I was able to continue my education while gaining experience in a busy working environment.”

As well as having the opportunity to experience working within different departments, Louise had the highlight of attending the 2015 Skills Development Scotland MA Awards where Waverley Housing were named ‘Scotland’s SME Apprentice Employer of the Year’.

Louise adds that her Borders College Tutor Assessor, Jill Lawrie, “was a great help – I always felt comfortable enough to contact her if I had any queries.”

Louise has since accepted a permanent contract with Waverley Housing as Trainee Administration Assistant, and will enhance her training when she begins a part-time HNC in Administration & IT at Borders College in August.
