Borders College Graduation update 21 June 2021
Borders College has taken the decision to postpone the 2021 Graduation until it is possible to have a face-to-face ceremony in whatever format future guidelines allow.
Students from 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 student groups will all be given the opportunity to graduate at a time that is deemed safe in the future.
Vice principal for the Curriculum Heather Anderson said:
“Our Graduation team met and discussed the various options available, including online ceremonies. However, the feedback has been that our Graduands deserve to have the opportunity to celebrate their successes in a similar way to their predecessors.
“We want to afford our students the opportunity to wear a Graduation robe and have an official photograph taken that they can proudly display at home or at their work-place. A valued memory for ever.
“For us, it was an easy decision to postpone the event until we can all celebrate together, under whatever guidelines allow. This could mean additional ceremonies with fewer numbers – but we are keen to ensure that everyone gets their day on the stage.”
The College is also currently investigating the option to live stream the event to those who are unable to attend for any reason.
Students will receive an email from the College as the plans develop. However, it is not anticipated that any decisions will be made before August 2021.
