Boat Building and Repair at SCQF Level 6

The SVQ in Boat Building and Repair at SCQF Level 6 is aimed at apprentices in boat yards carrying out a variety of tasks on wooden, metal or composite boats.The SVQ in Boat Building and Repair has four mandatory units including: complying with statutory regulations and organisational safety requirements; slinging; lifting and moving materials; and machinery and components in a marine environment.In addition to the mandatory units, candidates select one of two specialist pathways:Wooden Boat Building and RepairComposite Boat Building and Repair and Metal Boat Building and Repair Upon successful completion, learners will gain an internationally recognised qualification which guarantees that they have the skills, knowledge, and abilities required to carry out their role successfully. Employers will also benefit from their employees being proficient.As assessment is carried out in the workplace, this minimises the time that learners may need to be away from their work
