The HNC in Cyber Security (SCQF level 7) develops knowledge and skills in areas such as data security and ethical hacking. The HNC also covers areas such as computer architecture, programming, networking, and professionalism and ethics in cyber security.This course is equivalent to first year of degree study and we offer this course as a standalone HNC. By studying this programme, you will develop suitable competencies and industry knowledge to enhance a career in computing. You will develop other relevant skills that employer's value such as meeting deadlines, attention to detail, personal target setting, managing your own performance and that of others.
Qualifications
Upon successful completion, candidates will achieve the following awards;
- HNC Cyber Security at SCQF Level 7
Some of the units included cover topics such as Artificial Intelligence, Ethical Hacking and Computer Programming.
Delivery
The course is full-time with delivery on campus over three days, for 36 weeks. There will be some hybrid learning opportunities and this will be flexible throughout the delivery.

Entry requirements
Applications should have one relevant Higher qualification at Grade C or above in Computing Science, Maths, Graphic Communications or other Science/Technology subject in addition to four National 5s at Grade C or above or be progressing from a similar college computing course at the level below.Applicants with no formal qualifications will be considered on an individual basis and their applications or enquiries are encouraged.Previous industry experience is not essential but would be advantageous.
