Developing Player Programme - Scottish Rugby

Borders College is working with Scottish Rugby to provide a coherent Rugby programme that gives recognition and structure to players developing their Rugby Skills and Physical Fitness. Successful students will achieve SQA units in Rugby, Circuits, and Resistance training at SCQF levels 4 or 5. The programme is delivered, part-time in local communities, via Rugby Leaders based in selected Clubs and Schools. Players will attend regular sessions (3 times per week) and record progress, using worksheets and a training diary.

Qualifications

SQA units at levels SCQF 4 or 5 relating to Circuits & Resistance Training, playing Rugby and improving performance

Delivery

Approximately 5 hours per week, predominately practical delivered by Development Officer/Coach in context of local rugby team with online tasks.

Entry requirements

Applicants should be regularly attending training sessions with their local rugby team and should have academic ability suitable for studying at the same level as their course (National/SCQF level 4, 5, or 6)

Progression opportunities

Students should be able to progress onto APP course at a higher level or other related courses
