Borders College is delighted to be able to offer E-Sports to the region in a vocational area that is rapidly growing. This course will provide candidates with opportunities to enhance their game-playing skills, organise and compete in E-Sports events regionally and nationally and also develop the essential digital skills that are required in the modern-day working environment. By undertaking this course candidates will be provided with a bespoke gaming studio to undertake their course work along with being provided with an area that allows them to prepare and practice in an engaging environment.

Delivery

The course is full-time, delivered on campus over three days, for 36 weeks. There will be some hybrid learning opportunities and this will be flexible throughout.

Entry requirements

Applications should have 3 relevant National 4 qualifications, 4 relevant Standard Grades at grade 4 or be progressing from a similar college course at Level 4.

Applicants with no formal qualifications will be considered on an individual basis and their applications or enquiries are encouraged.

Previous relevant experience would be beneficial but is not essential as the candidates skills would be developed on this course.

On successful completion of the course, students may progress to some of the pathways outlined elow.

  • NC Computing at SCQF Level 6
  • Business and Enterprise at SCQF Level 6

Employment opportunities in this vocational area that are applicable to the units undertaken in this course, such as;

  • E-Sports Player
  • E-Sports Events Organiser
  • Broadcasting and Media Roles in E-Sports

Application and Interview Process

Applications will be reviewed by the curriculum team and candidates will be invited to interview to follow up on the information contained within to confirm suitability. A full, detailed personal statement is important at this stage. Candidates are provided with the opportunity to ask further questions about the course and college support services at the interviews.

Course Content

Upon successful completion, candidates will achieve the following awards;

  • NPA E-Sports at SCQF Level 5
  • NPA Cyber Security at SCQF Level 5
  • NPA Digital Passport at SCQF Level 5
