Volunteering Skills Award
The Volunteering Skills Award offers people opportunities to have the skills they develop through volunteering recognised at SCQF Levels 3, 4 and 5 (Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework)Why choose Borders College?Borders College offers great support to people undertaking this Award. A Tutor/Assessor supports the participants and the volunteer managers. Support is provided in situ, with the Tutor/Assessor visiting the volunteer regularly and helping the candidate to create a portfolio of their volunteering experiencesSupport can be provided to Volunteer Involving Organisations in the Borders, City of Edinburgh and the Lothians
Qualifications
Who are they for?It is open to young people aged 14+ and adults. For young people this Award can be undertaken in parallel with other Youth Achievement Awards. The Award is particularly relevant for people who are volunteering with the aim of re-entering the workforce, perhaps after a period of illness, unemployment or caring responsibilitiesAny volunteering opportunity may be used and the Award can also assist people in finding a suitable volunteering role. There is an expectation that 20 hours of volunteering will be undertaken. Part of the Award involves a short project that is developed in consultation with the volunteering and the Volunteer Involving Organisation
