Information for Adverse Weather

During adverse weather, Borders College will remain open whenever possible to do so. Borders College will only close when:

  • We tell you we are closed, and this will be done through the College's Facebook page, Twitter page and website.

Travel to College during adverse weather conditions

The decision to travel to college is ultimately the individual student’s responsibility. If you deem it safe to travel, then College will be open unless we have told you otherwise.

The majority of students travel to College on public service bus routes and each of the bus companies will make the decision on whether or not they can run their services safely or not. The bus companies will normally communicate any cancellation of service via their own websites and social media.

If the bus service is running, and you deem it safe to travel, then the college will be open unless we have told you otherwise.

Deteriorating conditions during the College day

Should conditions begin to deteriorate during the College day, a decision to send students home will be taken in conjunction with the Council’s Winter Control team, which includes the police and the various bus companies.

  • Remember, Borders College will remain open unless we tell you otherwise via the College's Facebook page, Twitter page and website.
