The Salons at Scottish Borders Campus
Our salons at Borders College have been furnished with the latest equipment and commercial products, allowing students to learn the latest techniques and treatments, in a fully operational industry environment.
Our Salons are open to the public most days of the week during term time, where customers can enjoy a range of hair services and beauty therapy treatments.
Our stylists and therapists are currently undertaking their training and are supported by the experienced lecturing team who guide, support and assess the students. Please be mindful that treatments might take a little longer than a traditional salon due to the training element of the services being provided. Please ask our team about timings for treatments. Our principal aim is to support and assess students on their practical skills in a realistic working environment, and also to ensure customers are completely satisfied with the service provided.
From arriving in the salon to leaving after an enriching treatment, the purpose is to ensure that clients are immersed in a realistic salon environment and our student and staff team endeavour to ensure that the clients who walk through our doors are treated to a positive experience that will have them returning in the months and years that follow. Our prices reflect the activity that is undertaken in the salon and everyone at Borders College appreciate the support that our clients provide to our students.
Some treatments require skin tests to be carried out 24 – 48 hours before services are provided. Please speak to the team about this for further information and how this can be organised. Some services will not be able to be provided at the time agreed if this is not carried out beforehand.
- Please note that no technical service will be carried out on children under the age of fourteen.

- Borders College, Scottish Borders Campus, Nether Road, Galashiels, TD1 3HE.
When entering the college building at the main entrance, The Salons are located off the main foyer to the left-hand side. Entrance to the salons is accessed directly opposite Student Services and upon arrival, please report to the reception in the hairdressing salon and the staff and student team will welcome you and guide you from this point.
