The Restaurant at Scottish Borders Campus offers a unique dining experience where guests can enjoy high-quality food and service while supporting the development of the next generation of hospitality and culinary professionals.

Working in a realistic industry environment, our hospitality and professional cookery students develop and refine their skills through nationally recognised vocational qualifications that have been developed in partnership with industry. Continuous assessment throughout their studies allows students to gain valuable experience in both the kitchen and front-of-house, helping them build the confidence, professionalism and expertise sought by employers.

All food is freshly prepared by our student chefs using quality ingredients, with a commitment to using Scottish produce wherever possible. From menu planning and food preparation to service delivery and customer care, students take an active role in every aspect of the dining experience under the guidance of our experienced lecturing team.

Guests can expect a welcoming atmosphere and a professional standard of service that reflects current industry practice. The restaurant provides students with the opportunity to develop their skills in real-world situations, while diners enjoy thoughtfully prepared dishes and attentive hospitality provided by our aspiring chefs and hospitality professionals.

Throughout the year, students take on increasing levels of responsibility, with senior learners leading kitchen and restaurant operations as part of their programme. This helps develop the leadership, management and organisational skills required for successful careers within the hospitality sector.

Special Events and Themed Dining Experiences

In addition to our regular restaurant service, we host a variety of popular themed events throughout the academic year. These include seasonal celebrations, special dining experiences and our much-anticipated Christmas events.

These events showcase the breadth of skills being developed within the department and reflect our commitment to nurturing local talent into hospitality and culinary professionals capable of succeeding on a national and international stage.
