This course is designed to provide learners with an introductory beauty qualification, reflective of the skills required by the beauty industry that will prepare learners for further study within this vocational area.

Students will study a wide range of units including Pedicure, Manicure, Eye Treatments, Make Up and Massage.

This course is suitable for a wide range of candidates including those who have recently left school and adult learners returning to education.

Qualifications

Upon successful completion, candidates will achieve the following awards;

  • NPA in Scalp, Back, Neck and Shoulder Massage at SCQF Level 5
  • NPA in Hand and Foot Care and Nail Art at SCQF Level 5
  • NPA in Make-up and Eye Treatments at SCQF Level 5

The course is full-time with delivery on campus over three days, for 36 weeks.

Entry requirements

Learners would benefit from having already developed the skills, knowledge and understanding gained from relevant Beauty qualifications at SCQF Level 4, or from progressing successfully from a college course in a related Personal Services area. Candidates should also hold a Communication and/or Numeracy qualification at SCQF Level 4.


In line with current industry guidance, candidates must be aged 16 or over at the start of the course. Winter Leavers will be supported on an individual basis throughout their application to help identify the most suitable study options.


As part of the selection process, applicants will be assessed on the strength of their personal statement and interview performance. Applications will be viewed favourably when supported by a positive reference from industry or education. Decisions will be made at the end of the interview process, and candidates will be contacted with the outcome. Where possible, applicants may be invited to attend a second interview if additional clarity is required or if places remain or become available.


To undertake this course, learners with English as a second language are expected to hold formal ESOL qualifications at SCQF Level 4 or above, ensuring they can fully engage with both the practical and theoretical elements of the programme.
