Green Skills Training Opportunities
This course will look at sustainable materials and practices that can help to construct homes with very high levels of energy efficiency. This will include a fabric first approach to construction, with an emphasis on sustainable building materials and insulation. It will also introduce the concept of low air permeability, and systems to provide low carbon heating and excellent indoor air quality.
This course is tailored to local businesses, whether they be business leaders, sole traders or anything in between, who are looking to be informed with up to date with sustainable construction. This course will provide an overview of various materials, and methods used in low carbon buildings.
This course is designed to develop awareness of external wall insulation systems for properties to prevent heat loss and improve energy efficiency. Practical experience of fixing insulation boards and applying render coats and surface finishes.
Introduction to airtight construction and testing
Prevention of uncontrolled air leakage from buildings. Prevent heat loss. Improvement of indoor air quality and comply with building regulations.
Part of the sustainable construction with regard to net zero emissions homes.
Thermal imaging enables you to see far more than traditional diagnostic methods. You are use thermal imaging to see leaks without causing any damage to internal or external structures. It can also be used to diagnose electrical issues, insulation efficiency or optimal insulation locations, faults in solar photo voltaic panels and numerous other causes.
This course will explore the subject of ventilation in homes and the systems that can be used to provide ventilation and high indoor air quality. The course will cover the principles of ventilation, heat recovery systems, intake and extract ducting, running and maintenance of MVHR systems.
This course will provide an overview of renewable technologies, from low carbon heating systems, heat pumps, solar pv and solar thermal, biomass systems, micro hydro and wind turbine generation systems
Designed to give installers the skills and knowledge required to correctly install heat pumps. This course has been designed with the with the intention of meeting the requirement of the National Occupational Standards.
The Solar Hot Water Thermal Systems is now fully mapped against the National Occupational Standards. Such a course is a requirement of the minimum technical competency (MTC) document for solar installers and the certificate is recognised by all bodies offering routes to the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) as evidence of suitable training
These courses aim to help plumbers and heating engineers who want to install Vented and Unvented Domestic Hot Water Storage Systems to comply with the appropriate Building Regulations and Standards.
Water Bylaws 2014 (Scotland) and meet the requirements of WRAS (the Water Regulations Advisory Scheme) of which the majority of the UK water companies are members.
