ESOL with Employability Skills - FT (SCQF Level 3)

This full-time course is designed for adults living in the Scottish Borders whose first language is not English. Learners will improve their English language skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking while also developing essential employability skills to support entry into the local job market.
Through practical and contextual learning, students will explore everyday and workplace English, build confidence in communication, and gain valuable insights into the expectations of employers in the region. The course also includes activities such as CV writing, job applications, and interview preparation.
Delivery
Applications will be reviewed by the curriculum team and candidates will be selected based on a detailed personal statement as supported by regional school partners.

Entry requirements
Applicants will complete an initial assessment, if required, with a tutor to determine the most suitable level of study.
Progression opportunities
Following completion of this course, candidates will be prepared to continue their ESOL studies as well as exploring various full time and part time education options in the region with Borders College. Candidates will also be better placed to explore employment opportunities.

Application and Interview Process
Applications will be reviewed by the curriculum team, and all candidates will be required to have their ESOL level assessed to ensure suitability for this course if they have no evidence of prior qualifications.
