Entry requirements

Candidates must provide the organisation with a copy of their three day Accredited First Aid at Work certificate prior to course commencement, to be eligible to attend. If your First Aid at Work Certificate has lapsed please be aware candidates will have to undertake the 3 Day Accreditated First Aid at Work qualification.

Course Content

  • Understand the role and responsibilities of a First Aider.
  • Be able to assess an incident.
  • Be able to manage a casualty who is unresponsive and not breathing normally (CPR).
  • Be able to provide first aid to an unresponsive and breathing casualty (recovery position).
  • Be able to manage a casualty who is in seizure.
  • Recognise and assist a casualty who is choking.
  • Manage a casualty with external bleeding.
  • Manage a casualty who is in shock.
  • Understand how to manage a casualty with a minor injury.
  • Understand how to manage a casualty with minor burns and scalds.
  • Identify the signs, symptoms, and history of a casualty.
  • Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with bones, muscles and joint injuries.
  • Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with suspected head and spinal injuries.
  • Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with a suspected chest injury.
  • Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with burns and scalds.
  • Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with an eye injury.
  • Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with poisoning.
  • Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with anaphylaxis.
  • Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with a suspected major illness.
  • Understand both the theory and practice of the use of an AED.
