The aim of this course is to support learners in becoming first aiders in the workplace.In line with HSE guidance, the qualification supports/approves work place first aiders for a period of 3 years, after which point learners will need to complete a 2-day First Aid at Work Requalification course.
Qualifications
An FAIB (First Aid Industry Body) accredited certificate will be awarded upon successful completion.

Course Content
On completion of training, successful candidates should be able to:

Understand the role and responsibilities of a First Aider.

Be able to assess an incident.
-
Be able to manage a casualty who is unresponsive and not breathing normally (CPR).
-
Be able to provide first aid to an unresponsive and breathing casualty (recovery position).
-
Be able to manage a casualty who is in seizure.
-
Recognise and assist a casualty who is choking.
-
Manage a casualty with external bleeding.
-
Manage a casualty who is in shock.
-
Understand how to manage a casualty with a minor injury.
-
Understand how to manage a casualty with minor burns and scalds.
-
Identify the signs, symptoms, and history of a casualty.

Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with bones, muscles and joint injuries.

Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with suspected head and spinal injuries.
-
Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with a suspected chest injury.
-
Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with burns and scalds.
-
Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with an eye injury.
-
Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with poisoning.
-
Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with anaphylaxis.
-
Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with a suspected major illness.

Understand both the theory and practice of the use of an AED.
