No formal qualifications are required, but an interest in engineering, technology, and practical work is essential.

Successful completion of this course can lead to further study at Borders College. SCQF Level 5 Engineering courses (e.g. Mechanical & Electrical Engineering) or other construction disciplines

Course Content

This introductory course provides learners with a broad foundation in the essential principles and practices of engineering. Designed as a first step for those interested in pursuing a career or further study in the engineering sector, the course develops practical skills, technical understanding, and problem-solving abilities across a range of engineering disciplines.Students will explore core topics such as engineering materials, tools and processes, basic electrical and mechanical principles, and safe working practices. Emphasis is placed on hands-on learning through workshop activities, project work, and practical problem-solving exercises.
