This course is designed to give you the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills needed to respond effectively in emergency situations particularly those involving infants and young children. Whether you are working in childcare, education, or simply want to be better prepared, the ability to act quickly and appropriately can make a real difference.Throughout the day, we will cover the key responsibilities of a First Aider, including how to assess incidents safely, maintain good hygiene, and use first aid equipment correctly. You will learn how to respond to a wide range of situations from minor injuries like cuts and grazes, to more serious conditions such as choking, seizures, allergic reactions, and head or spinal injuries.A significant part of the course will focus on life saving skills, including CPR for infants, children, and adults, as well as how to use an AED. We will also look at how to recognise and manage common medical emergencies such as asthma attacks, burns, shock, and anaphylaxis.This is a practical, hands on course, so you will have plenty of opportunities to practise your skills in a supportive environment. Please feel free to ask questions at any time, your understanding and confidence are what matter most.By the end of the day, you should feel better equipped to step in, stay calm, and provide effective first aid when it is needed most.

Course Content
Participants will acquire comprehensive first-aid knowledge and skills, with an emphasis on caring for infants and young children. The curriculum includes:Understanding the responsibilities of a First Aider, including effective use of available equipment and accurate incident reporting.Recognising the importance of basic hygiene throughout first aid procedures.Assessing situations promptly and safely to ensure an effective response during emergencies.Administering first aid to casualties who are unconscious, experiencing seizures, or suffering from wounds, bleeding, shock, or choking.Performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on infants, children, and adults. Along with the practical use of an AED.Providing appropriate treatment for minor injuries, such as cuts and grazes, to prevent complications.Identifying and managing head and spinal injuries, offering initial support as needed.Responding to asthma attacks, nosebleeds, burns, epilepsy, anaphylaxis, and shock.Utilising a first aid kit efficiently, with familiarity regarding its contents and applications.
