Celebrating success at the Katharine Elliot Centre

Group of staff and students. Students are being presented with completion certificates

There were smiles all round at the Katharine Elliot Centre in Hawick as two service users celebrated a fantastic achievement through the Borders College Skills Accreditation Programme.

Katie Scott and Shane Stewart, both from Hawick, successfully completed two units each, choosing to focus on Cookery and Food Hygiene. Through their hard work and dedication, they developed valuable skills in planning, preparing, and presenting meals from scratch, all while maintaining excellent hygiene standards.

The Skills Accreditation Programme, an SCQF Level 1 award, recognises the progress and abilities learners gain through their everyday activities, helping them build confidence and showcase their achievements.

To mark the occasion, a special celebration event was held, where Katie and Shane were joined by family, friends, and fellow service users. Dressed in graduation gowns and mortarboards, they proudly received their certificates in recognition of their commitment and success.

Congratulations to Katie and Shane on this brilliant milestone, a great example of what can be achieved with determination and support.
