Borders College Department of Enterprise and Business Innovation (DEBI) recently delivered a three-day REHIS First Aid at Work course for several managerial staff at Barony Castle Hotel.
Providing a safe environment for their customers is of the utmost importance and candidates Jeanette Robertson, Graeme Gillon, Elizabeth Moffatt, John Boswell, Ian Murphy and Radoslaw Mierzwiak were fully committed to ensuring they learned as much about the potentially life-saving training as possible.
Barony Castle, a beautiful imposing 16th-century building, has evolved into a superb and popular Hotel and caters not just for accommodating people but also for conferences and weddings.
The Hotel has a large variety of amenities for its customers, including a swimming pool and spa. DEBI trainer Chrys Murphy ensured the extension of the REHIS syllabus covered all aspects if ever an incident in such amenities occurred. Chrys commented:
“The candidates’ enthusiasm was most impressive and their determination to gain the REHIS FAW Certificate was of a top-quality standard all the time.”
Staff were most grateful for the training and wide variety of topics covered, with comments including:
"The course was great and we all really enjoyed it. Feel like more information has been retained on this course as opposed to others I have been on."
"The course was fun and easy to learn."
The REHIS First Aid at Work training was provided to Barony Castle using the Flexible Workforce Development (Phase 2 SME) Funding.
