Doors Open at Borders College Hawick Campus

Hawick Campus

Doors Open Days takes place throughout Scotland and is part of European Heritage Days. As part of the festival, we are opening our Hawick Campus to the public, offering tours of the facilities, including our award-winning Eco Room and Advanced Manufacturing Hub.

Borders College Hawick Campus was built in 2007 on the site of the old Hawick Cottage Hospital. The building has evolved into a strategic hub for sustainable technologies and a centre of excellence in the race for Net Zero. The building demonstrates multiple renewable technologies from heat pumps, solar thermal/PV as well as passive house techniques. Our Advanced Manufacturing Hub displays robotic technologies, and our Eco Room, completed in 2019, was ‘Highly Commended’ at the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT) in 2020 and won the 'Commercial Project of the Year' award at the Herald Property Awards for Scotland in 2021.

We will be running four tours throughout the day, on the hour from 10am – 1pm on Saturday 3rd September, where visitors will have the chance to tour the facilities and see the range of equipment and training opportunities Borders College has to offer.

Katharine Mathison, Director of Enterprise and Business Innovation, said:

“Borders College is a great place to learn, train and be part of a community. Doors Open Day gives everyone no matter what their age or area of interest to explore our facilities and find out more about the different programmes on offer. If you think the college does not have anything relevant for you, your lifestyle or your business, why not come along and let us surprise you?”

If you are interested in attending the event, you can book your place below.
