Scotland’s Climate Week 2024 will run from 23-29 September. This annual event highlights the importance and urgency of tackling climate change and celebrates all the positive climate action being taken across the country to help inspire further collective, transformative change.
This year’s theme is "Stories for Change" which aims to encourage individuals, communities, and organisations to share their personal experiences and actions of what they’re doing to adapt to and combat climate change.
The Climate Change Committee has estimated that 62% of the changes needed to tackle climate change can only happen with societal or individual behaviour change. Sharing stories is a powerful tool for connecting people and inspiring this necessary collective action. By sharing our journey and solutions on social media using #ScotClimateWeek, we can help others understand the impact of climate change and motivate them to take action.
Scottish businesses and organisations are playing a vital role in helping Scotland to reach net zero, from making changes to the way they heat their buildings, to how they transport good and services. These changes are not only good for the planet, but good for business and employees too.
The transition to becoming a net zero and climate-resilient nation is an opportunity to transform our society. Every action we take on climate change will benefit people and communities, from ensuring the air we breathe is clean to making it cheaper to heat our homes, increasing our health and wellbeing, and protecting and restoring nature alongside building a more resilient economy.
Together, our stories create a powerful movement for social change and climate action that doesn’t only benefit the planet and future generations, but our everyday lives here and now.
