Vital First Aid training delivered to Borders Distillery staff

Staff from Borders Distillery, based in Hawick, recently underwent vital First Aid training, delivered by Borders College Department of Enterprise and Business Innovation (DEBI) as part of their Flexible Workforce Development (Phase 2 SME) funding.

Employees Shaun Forbes, Charlotte Heard, Finlay Street, Andrew Nairn, Caitlin Heard, Sarah Fraser, Jim Casey, David Shuttleworth, Robyn Jardine and Chris Hamilton attended a First Aid at Work course to upskill themselves with up-to-date First Aid training.

With the safety of their ever-growing visitor numbers at the forefront, the team completed the training to ensure that the business could comply with health and safety regulations and perform First Aid appropriately.

With the busy Distillery and tours around the building proving extremely popular, this First Aid training will ensure that staff have the skills to keep themselves and customers safe.

Based in Hawick, the Borders Distillery opened in March 2018 – the first Scotch Whisky distillery in the Scottish Borders since 1837. The team are dedicated to capturing the true spirit of the Borders and bringing whisky-making back to the region.

The staff now feel fully trained to be able to deal with First Aid scenarios that may arise in the workplace, with the participants commenting:
