The BA Business Management (Year 3) programme offers a fantastic opportunity for students who have completed an HND in Business (or equivalent SCQF Level 8 award) to progress to degree-level study right here in the Scottish Borders.
Delivered in partnership with Queen Margaret University (QMU), this course allows learners to continue their academic journey locally while benefiting from a university-validated curriculum designed to build strong analytical, strategic and professional skills.
Through a mix of practical projects, applied learning and industry-informed modules, you will deepen your understanding of how modern organisations operate. The programme supports your development into a confident, work-ready graduate with the skills to make an impact across areas such as management, marketing, HR, and entrepreneurship. Whether your goal is to move into employment or progress to the Honours year, this course is a powerful next step.
The course will be delivered over one academic year on a Tuesday at Scottish Borders Campus, with one additional day for self-directed study. Teaching takes place with structured learning, seminars, workshops, project activities and some online components.
On successful completion, you will be awarded: BA Business Management (SCQF Level 9) Awarded by Queen Margaret University.
Entry is open to students who have successfully completed:
- HND in Business (or an equivalent SCQF Level 8 qualification in a relevant discipline)
- Typically Grade CB in HND Graded Units
- Students progressing directly from Borders College or other institutions.
- Adult returners who have achieved an equivalent Level 8 business qualification.
- Learners seeking a local, supportive route to a recognised university degree.
- Individuals looking to enhance employability, leadership skills and business knowledge.
Successful completion of this programme allows you to:
- Progress directly to BA (Hons) Business Management (SCQF Level 10) at Queen Margaret University, with guaranteed progression for eligible students.
- Enter graduate roles in areas such as management, HR, marketing, finance, operations, project management and enterprise.
- Pursue entrepreneurial opportunities through the skills developed in the New Enterprise Start Up module.
- Move into further training, professional certifications or postgraduate study in business-related areas.
